"Its subject matter is dark, documenting the debris and decay of love gone bad and
bemoaning the bitter ironies that beset the human condition. Why, then, is Old Dreams,
the debut album by Parlor James, such an utterly exhilarating listening experience?
The answer lies partly in the delectable vocal interplay of Parlor James principals
Ryan Hedgecock (the found of Lone Justice) and Amy Allison (daughter of living legend
Mose Allison), and partly in the deeply grooved and richly ornamented sonic architecture
of producer/collaborator Malcom Burn (best known for Chris Whitley's groundbreaking
Living With the Law).
Fundamentally, though, the power of Old Dreams emanates from a remarkable series
of songs highlighted by the sublime "Why Must It Be" the roiling "House of Flesh and
Bone" and the enchanting "Everything and Nothing Too".   Additionally, Allison and
Hedgecock offer seductive interpretations of the traditional tearjerker "Clementine" and
Tom Petty's little-known but stirring "Turning Point". Old Dreams is stylistically innovative
and emotionally wrenching.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Malcolm Burn. Management: Morebarn Music, Morristown, N.J."
