"Its subject matter is dark, documenting the debris and decay of love gone bad and
bemoaning the bitter ironies that beset the human condition. Why, then, is Old Dreams,
the debut album by Parlor James, such an utterly exhilarating listening experience?
The answer lies partly in the delectable vocal interplay of Parlor James principals
Ryan Hedgecock (the found of Lone Justice) and Amy Allison (daughter of living legend
Mose Allison), and partly in the deeply grooved and richly ornamented sonic architecture
of producer/collaborator Malcom Burn (best known for Chris Whitley's groundbreaking
Living With the Law).
Fundamentally, though, the power of Old Dreams emanates from a remarkable series
of songs highlighted by the sublime "Why Must It Be" the roiling "House of Flesh and
Bone" and the enchanting "Everything and Nothing Too".   Additionally, Allison and
Hedgecock offer seductive interpretations of the traditional tearjerker "Clementine" and
Tom Petty's little-known but stirring "Turning Point". Old Dreams is stylistically innovative
and emotionally wrenching.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Malcolm Burn. Management: Morebarn Music, Morristown, N.J."

Amazon.com Help: Condition Guidelines

Condition Guidelines
An accurate appraisal of the used and collectible items listed for sale at Amazon Marketplace is the first step toward ensuring a great experience for both buyer and seller. Whatever their condition, you may list items at any price you feel is fair, regardless of the Amazon.com price or list price for the item. For detailed condition guidelines, select a product type below:
Books | Collectible Books | Music | Videos and DVDs | Video Games | Electronics | Ink and Toner | Tools & Hardware | Camera & Photo | Kitchen & Housewares | Software & Computer Games | Outdoor Living | Office Products | Computers | Cell Phones & Service | Toy & Baby | Watches | Musical Instruments | Everything Else
Books Guidelines for New and Used Books items:
  • New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unread copy in perfect condition.
  • Like New: An apparently unread copy in perfect condition. Dust cover is intact, with no nicks or tears. Spine has no signs of creasing. Pages are clean and are not marred by notes or folds of any kind. Book may contain a remainder mark on an outside edge but this should be noted in listing comments.
  • Very Good: A copy that has been read, but remains in excellent condition. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
  • Good: A copy that has been read, but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (including dust cover, if applicable). The spine may show signs of wear. Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include "From the library of" labels.
  • Acceptable: A readable copy. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (the dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but the notes cannot obscure the text.
  • Unacceptable: Moldy, badly stained, or unclean copies are not acceptable, nor are copies with missing pages or obscured text. Books that are distributed for promotional use only are prohibited. This includes advance reading copies (ARCs) and uncorrected proof copies.
Be sure to describe your books in an accurate manner. An accurate product description increases buyer satisfaction, helps sellers build a loyal customer base, and ensures positive feedback ratings. Should a book have an obvious cosmetic flaw, sellers are strongly encouraged to make a note within the comments field. The presence of a remainder mark should always be noted in comments. Advance reading copies and uncorrected proofs are not permitted.
Collectible Books
The listing of "Collectible" books is limited to approved sellers only. Learn more about the approval process and Collectible Books Requirements.
These additional guidelines, although not mandatory, may be used to determine whether to list a book as "Collectible." To be considered collectible, books should be unique in a way that could reasonably be assumed to increase the book's value to a collector, for example:
  • First edition and first printing, signed, inscribed or scarce
  • Not ex-library, remaindered or book club edition
Sellers can use special attributes to include condition information about "Collectible" book listings that will be displayed to buyers on the Offer Listing Page. For guidelines on using this feature, see Collectible Books Attributes.
Seller comments for "Collectible" books should include:
  • Further detail on condition/completeness of exterior, interior and dust jacket (if applicable)
  • Edition and printing
  • Presence of signatures, inscriptions or other personalization
The following sub-conditions are available for Collectible Books:
  • Like New: An apparently unread copy in perfect condition. Dust jacket is intact, with no noticeable nicks or tears. Spine has no signs of creasing. For Collectible Books, we encourage sellers to list items in "Fine" condition as "Like New" and include details in the listing comments. Collectible books in "Like New" condition would include items that may have very small but virtually unnoticeable flaws. A "Fine" dust jacket may include a few tiny nicks but this should be noted in the listing comments.
  • Very Good: Copy may have been read and may show small signs of wear. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. A "Very Good" dust jacket will have some rubbing and chipping. For Collectible Books, we encourage sellers to list items in "Near Fine" condition as "Very Good" and include details in the listing comments.
  • Good: A copy that has been read, and is in the condition of an average used book. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (including dust jacket, if applicable). The spine may show signs of wear. Generally, books in "Good" condition are not considered collectible grade.
  • Acceptable: A readable copy showing significant wear and, for all but the rarest of books, below collector grade. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (the dust jacket may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but the notes cannot obscure the text.
Be sure to describe your books accurately. An accurate and complete product description increases buyer satisfaction, helps sellers build a loyal customer base, and ensures positive feedback.
Sellers approved to list in "Collectible" condition may sell advance reading copies and uncorrected proofs of out-of-print books as Collectible. Advance reading copies and uncorrected proofs of in-print or not-yet-published books are not permitted.
Music
Items priced at or above the list price (MSRP) or $10, whichever is greater, are eligible for Collectible designation. Items priced below this may be listed under Used or New, but will not be eligible for Collectible designation.
These additional guidelines, although not mandatory, may be used to determine whether to list an item as Collectible. To be considered collectible, the item should be unique in a way that increases value for a collector, for example:
  • Signed, inscribed, or scarce
  • Unique characteristics like special pressings, unusual aesthetics (for example, colored vinyl), or limited edition packaging
Seller comments for Collectible music should include:
  • Further detail on condition/completeness of item and packaging
  • Presence of signatures, inscriptions, or other personalization
Guidelines for New and Used Music items:
  • New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened CD or cassette in perfect condition.
  • Like New: An apparently unopened CD or cassette in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The jewel case or cassette case has no scratches or scuffing. The cover art, liner notes and inclusions are in perfect condition. The CD or tape itself is unmarked, with no sign of wear. The jewel case or cassette case may have a remainder cut-out on the spine but this should be noted in listing comments.
  • Very Good: A well-cared-for CD or cassette that has been listened to, but remains in great condition and plays perfectly. The jewel case or cassette case may show limited signs of wear, as may the cover art, liner notes and inclusions.
  • Good: The CD or cassette plays perfectly but has clear signs of wear. The jewel case or cassette case is undamaged, and original cover art, liner notes and inclusions are in good, unmarked condition. The CD, cassette, or packaging may have identification markings from its owner.
  • Acceptable: The CD or cassette plays perfectly, but is otherwise the worse for wear. The jewel case or cassette case may be damaged. The cover art, liner notes or inclusions may be marked, or one or all of these items may be missing. The seller must note any missing items in their listing comments. Products must be sold with a protective jewel case or cassette case. Sellers may substitute newer packaging when a jewel case or cassette case is damaged, but they may not substitute copied cover art or liner notes for the originals. The CD, cassette, or packaging may have identification markings from its owner.
  • Unacceptable: Music that is in any way unplayable or recorded over is not acceptable, nor are recordings not manufactured by the copyright holder, including recopied media in any form. Additionally, promotional media is prohibited.
Be sure to describe your CDs and cassettes in an accurate manner. An accurate product description increases buyer satisfaction. Should an item have an obvious cosmetic flaw, sellers are strongly encouraged to make a note within the comments field. In cases where cover art, liner notes, or inclusions are missing, the product may only be listed in "Used - Acceptable" condition, and any missing items should always be noted in comments. The presence of remainder marks or cut-outs should always be noted in comments. Recopied media is not permitted. CD's with surface scratches may be listed as Good or Acceptable, subject to the above guidelines, as long as the quality of the playback is not affected.
Please note that if you are listing a club edition of an audio CD against the detail page for the standard edition, use the listing comments to indicate that your item is a club edition. For more about listing club editions of audio CDs, please see our Listing Rules.
Videos and DVDs Items priced at or above the list price (MSRP) or $10, whichever is greater, are eligible for "Collectible" designation. Items priced below this may be listed under "Used" or "New", but will not be eligible for "Collectible" designation.
These additional guidelines, although not mandatory, may be used to determine whether to list an item as "Collectible." To be considered collectible, the item should be unique in a way that increases value for a collector, for example:

  • Signed, inscribed or scarce Seller comments should include:

  • Further detail on condition/completeness of item and packaging

  • Presence of signatures, inscriptions or other personalization Guidelines for New and Used Video and DVD items:
    • New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video or DVD in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.
    • Like New: An apparently unopened video or DVD in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box or jewel case is clean and vivid, with no signs of wear, as are the cover art, liner notes, and inclusions. Suitable for presenting as a gift.
    • Very Good: A well-cared-for video or DVD that has been played, but remains in great condition. The film is complete, without interruption, and does not skip. The box or jewel case may show limited signs of wear, as may the cover art, liner notes and inclusions.
    • Good: A video or DVD with clear external signs of wear, but one that continues to play perfectly. The box or jewel case is undamaged, and the original cover art, liner notes and inclusions are in good, unmarked condition. The video, DVD, or packaging may have identification markings from its owner.
    • Acceptable: A video or DVD with extensive external signs of wear, but one that continues to play perfectly. The box or jewel case may be damaged. The cover art, liner notes or other inclusions may be marked, or one or all of these items may be missing. The seller must note any missing items in their listing comments. Products must be sold with a protective jewel case or box. Sellers may substitute newer packaging when a jewel case or box is damaged, but they may not substitute copied cover art or liner notes for the originals. The video, DVD, or packaging may have identification markings from its owner.
    • Unacceptable: Video or DVD recordings not created by the copyright holder, including recopied media in any form. Additionally, promotional media is prohibited, as are recordings in which any aspect of the film is missing or obscured.
Be sure to describe your videos and DVDs in an accurate manner. An accurate product description increases buyer satisfaction. Should an item have an obvious cosmetic flaw, sellers are strongly encouraged to make a note within the comments field. In cases where cover art, liner notes or inclusions are missing, the product may only be listed in "Used - Acceptable" condition, and any missing items should always be noted in comments. Recopied media is not permitted.
