Record Grading Scale

Marketplace - Grading Records

Grading Records

Discogs uses the Goldmine Standard for listing the condition of items for sale.
Mint (M)
Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. Should be used sparingly as a grade, If at all.
Near Mint (NM or M-)
A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won't give a grade higher than this implying (perhaps correctly) that no record is ever truly perfect. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. Near Mint is the highest price listed in all Goldmine price guides. Anything that exceeds this grade, in the opinion of both buyer and seller, is worth significantly more than the highest Goldmine book value.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.
Very Good (VG)
Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as the lowest price. This, not the Near Mint price, should be your guide when determining how much a record is worth, as that is the price a dealer will normally pay you for a Near Mint record.
Good (G), Good Plus (G+)
Generally worth 10-15 percent of the Near Mint value. Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object. It is a common item, you'll probably find another copy in better shape eventually. Pass it up. But, if it's something you have been seeking for years, and the price is right, get it...but keep looking to upgrade.
Poor (P), Fair (F)
Generally worth 0-5 percent of the Near Mint price. The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon. Except for impossibly rare records otherwise unattainable, records in this condition should be bought or sold for no more than a few cents each.

The Facts: Internet Sales Tax and the Streamlined Sales Tax Project | eBay Main Street - Public Policy and Breaking Ecommerce News

The Facts: Internet Sales Tax and the Streamlined Sales Tax Project | eBay Main Street - Public Policy and Breaking Ecommerce News:

The Facts: Internet Sales Tax and the Streamlined Sales Tax Project

Share this on Facebook, Twitter and more.
July 13, 2010   |   Permalink
A group of states calling themselves the Streamlined Sales Tax Project (SSTP) is lobbying Congress to give them the authority to require out of state businesses to collect and remit sales taxes for Internet commerce. The complex rules and tax rates could be regularly modified and changed by a Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, comprised of a group of state tax officials from the member states.
The SSTP does not propose establishing a single sales tax rate among the states, nor does it even require a single sales tax rate within each state. Instead, the Internet sales tax regime envisioned by the SSTP would be complex and costly to small business sellers, who would be responsible for thousands of state and local tax jurisdictions across the country.

SSTP FactsheetFour Facts:

  • Internet sales tax would require small businesses to navigate a very complex system.
  • Internet sales tax would place a disproportionate burden on small online retailers.
  • Uncollected taxes from online transactions would not generate enough state and local revenue to justify the increased financial and administrative burden on small businesses.
  • SSTP legislation gives a self-appointed group of state officials the power to determine national tax policy with limited federal oversight.
Download the full SSTP Factsheet

eBay supports protections for small businesses in any proposal to change federal tax law.

Congress can protect small business from new tax burdens by including a robust small business exemption. eBay supports including a "Small Business Exemption" provision in any proposal to change federal law related to sales tax collection and remittance that would empower the US Small Business Administration to determine which small business retailers would be exempt from the new Internet sales tax regime.
In a tough economy, we should empower and protect small businesses. It does not make sense to increase tax burdens on small businesses in such a tough economy. Instead, Congress should work to protect and help grow small businesses and empower consumers.

Young MC on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Young MC on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads: "Background history Young MC (born 10 May 1967) was born Marvin Young in the town of Neasden in London, England, and was raised in Queens, New York. After graduating from Hunter College High School in New York City, he moved to the opposite coast to attend the University of Southern California.

He graduated in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He graduated before his first album; Stone Cold Rhymin' had been released. Stone Cold Rhymin', his debut album, is considered to be a brilliant pop rap album. Although Marvin was born in England, he is considered to be an American rapper and songwriter.

His best known hit was 'Bust A Move' and it won the second and last Grammy Award for Best Rap Recording at the Grammy Awards in 1990. Music career In addition to producing the hit 'Bust a Move,' (bass-line provided by Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and lead vocals sung by Stevie Wonder's studio background vocalist Crystal Blake, not Diana Ross as many have speculated).

Young MC was also an accomplished songwriter, having co-written the hits 'Wild Thing' and 'Funky Cold Medina' for Tone Loc. In 1990, he appeared in several Taco Bell and Pepsi commercials. His follow-up to 'Bust a Move,' 'Principal's Office,' was nominated for Best Rap Video at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards. Young MC continued to record albums into the new millennium.

His later albums favor East Coast Rap, West Coast Rap and conscious minded Hip Hop instead of the Crunk and Southern Rap that were popular during the early-mid 2000s. In 2000 he struck platinum again as a songwriter, co-writing Anastacia's 'Not That Kind' which was an international smash hit, and the title track to her debut milti-platinum album. In 2002, Young MC appeared on the hip hop edition of The Weakest Link, of which he was the winner.

kcmusicshop quotes

If you don't know who you are then you try to be like everybody else, to
"fit in", to maintain the status quo. Who is "everybody"?
Everybody is John Doe or Jane Doe, John Q. Public, the "Average Joe" .
No one has ever accomplished being "everyone" else. It does not exist.
Find out who you are and be yourself.

What is the meaning of life? To live.

Why do people do what they do? Because it feels good.
We are feeling based creatures and
do what they do based on genetics, environment
and upbringing. We act upon our feelings and emotions,
not because it is logical or rational.  We trick ourselves
into believing that what we do is based upon reason or
"facts" when the truth is most "facts" are really an opinion.

Don Williams “Un-Retires” for Major Show Oct. 9th
Don Williams, with hits including Good Ole Boys Like Me, I Believe In You, Love Is On A Roll, Some Broken Hearts Never Mend  and Tulsa Time, has always had a knack for finding songs that speak directly to people’s hearts. All together he has 17 - #1 and 42 – Top 10 hits. Such a career has made Don Williams a 2010 inductee to The Country Music Hall of Fame. That honor, accompanied by an overwhelming demand by fans around the world, has prompted Williams to come out of retirement for a few select concerts this fall. One of those very special shows will be at Tri-Lakes Center in Branson on Saturday October 9 at 7:00pm.
When he retired four years ago Williams had no plans to take the stage again. It was time to enjoy the fruits of his labor, and when he felt like it he would still record new material. That changed this year with the announcement that Williams would be entering the Country Music Hall of Fame. His fans kept asking for the opportunity to hear his amazing voice live on stage one more time. As an artist who always appreciated the tremendous support of his fans, Williams decided to perform a handful of shows this fall to say “thank you” for his incredible career. Shaped from hedge-wood sticks found on their property, Wilson’s extraordinary horse sculptures have caught the attention of Missouri gallery owners and collectors. And starting July 1, Wilson’s work will be on public display at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Branson, announces museum attraction owner John Joslyn. “I think our July visitors, especially the kids, will be surprised, and startled, by the realism and motion that Rachel has captured in her imaginative, hedge-horse sculptures. Each ‘horse’ has a name and story to tell, from the large plow horse to the smallest of colts,” says Joslyn. “Six sculptures will be herded together outdoors on Titanic’s grassy knoll, where they’ll appear to be grazing. They are so life-like they’re bound to slow traffic,” he adds.
