allmusic Biography by Bruce Eder

Jules Blattner is a rock & roll original, from a town that spawned one of the great founding rock & roll originals, Chuck Berry. Born in St. Louis, MO, in 1941, he was a young teenager when the music caught on, and was already making plans to do something with it when the music began roaring up the chart in 1955. At age 15, in 1956, he organized his first group, Jules Blattner & the Teen Tones. Evidently, they were the first rock & roll band (or, at least, the first white rock & roll band) ever seen in the area, made of kids from around there (and so young that Blattner's mother drove them to their gigs in the early days), and they had the field to themselves. And for quite a while, on that lower end of the …

allmusic Biography by John Bush

Inspired by hometown heroes Pere Ubu, Cleveland's Death of Samantha experimented with avant-new wave punk during the mid-'80s, but moved to more straight-ahead alternative rock later in the decade. Formed by vocalist/guitarist John Petkovic, guitarist Doug Gillard, and drummer Steve-O, the group recorded several singles for their own label, then debuted on Homestead in 1986 with Strungout on Jargon. After the release of an EP later that year, Death of Samantha was silent for almost two years; the release of Where the Women Wear the Glory in 1988 showed the trio embracing more elements of '50s rock. Come All Ye Faithless appeared one year later, after which the band dissolved.

allmusic Biography by Tracy Frey

Mixing wry, intelligent lyrics and erotic overtones with alternate tunings and distortion, Menthol creates its own version of loud punk pop. The band started out in 1991 in Champaign-Urbana, Ill., where the three band members, former Hum bassist Balthazar De Ley (vocals and guitar), Joel Spencer (bass and vocals) and Colin Koteles (drums), grew up. They recorded one full-length album and a 45 on Mud Records under the name Mother. A few years later, the band relocated to Chicago and signed with Capitol Records. After discovering that Mother was a common band name, the trio renamed themselves Menthol and put out an album of the same name in 1995.

This is a 7" vinyl record that plays at 33 1/3 rpm on a turntable/record player.

myspace kidsforcashBio:
Kids for Cash was formed in 1984 by guitarist Sohrab Habibion and vocalist Frank Charron, quickly adding Dan Cook on bass and a steady succession of drummers, eventually settling on Tony Farfan. Three of the four band members were high school students at Lake Braddock in Burke, VA, a suburb of Washington, D.C., and the band’s outlook and music was heavily influenced by the mid-’80s D.C. scene. The band released one cassette and one EP, the No More Walls 7″ on Habibion’s Town of Hardcore label, and played briefly around the D.C. area. They performed on multi-band bills with Embrace, Scream, Government Issue, Marginal Man and others, including Dain Bramage, which featured Dave Grohl on drums. Grohl filled in on drums with the band for two shows. Habibion went on to play with Edsel, which played from 1989 to 1997 and recorded for the Grass, Relativity and Merkin labels. Cook went on to play with indie rock bands Lay Quiet Awhile (Daemon Records) and The Verna Cannon (Cargo Records). ....
